While I mostly model WW II aircraft, I will make any model that strikes my fancy.
This is the third of three kits I picked up from the vendor tables at last year’s local IPMS contest, the Tamiya 1/48 F4F-4. (And now I’ve finished all three. Yay me!)
As usual with Tamiya, the kit goes together without a problem. The [...]
From the moment I saw the Razor Crest in the Mandalorian, I thought it would make a cool model. I’ve debated getting Revel’s 1/72 kit, but mixed reviews and its large size have me leaning against it so far.
Then one day at the LHS I [...]
First I did “I like jugs.” Then I created “Spitfirepalooza.” Now I’m on the edge of being obsessed with Corsairs and having to create a name for said obsession.
Here’s my third Corsair of the year, the Tamiya 1/72 F4U-1D. [...]
Continuing with my recent Corsair kick, here’s my Tamiya 1/72 F4U-1. I used EagleCals decals for New Zealand 21 Squadron markings and Quinta Studio 3D decals for the interior. The 3D decals were pretty impressive. They really add a lot [...]
Here’s my Airfix Spitfire Mk. XII. I thought this was the 2022 release but it turned out to be the original 2017 kit. I’ve read online comments that on occasion early run Airfix kits have some issues. I’ve not run into this until [...]

I picked up this kit (which included the Fairey FD-2 kit from FROG) at a recent contest for a very reasonable price from a friend running a vendor table.
It seems Academy kits can be “hit or miss” in quality. I think this one is good. [...]
This is ancient Frog 1/72 Fairey FD 2. I believe this pop of the kit is older than me! And I’m old! A friend running a vendor table at a local contest added this in for free to the Academy Corsair I was buying from him. A very simple [...]
I don’t know what possessed me (okay, it was probably the cool box art) but I saw this in the local hobby shop and had to take it home. First issued in 1968 it shows its age with a very simplified cockpit (although I’m sure the real [...]
I’ve done a few “nostalgia builds” this year and interestingly (to me anyway) most of them were kits that I wish I had made as a kid but I didn’t. This Lindberg box scale XB-70 sort of falls in that category. I wanted a companion [...]
