Retired, Ocala Florida resident since 1978. I build 1/72 and 1/48 aircraft primarily, but delve into 1/144th. 1/72 (or close) Boats, 1/24th cars, 1/32-35th and assorted stuff, fill in the gaps, and prevent "burn-out". I'm a member of IPMS since 1983, a currently an officer in our local chapter. My current collection is over 400 on the shelf, and an equal number in my stash. I'd like to be able to share "the good, the bad, and the ugly", with my fellow modelers.

Airfix 1/72 Grumman J2F "Duck"

This is the OLD Airfix Duck, (OOB) I tried to keep it as simple a build as I could Before it was finished, I just wanted it over with, and it shows. I guess it was the victim of having too many things going at one time. Did I [...]

Russia sings the “Blues”…. (Monogram 1/48 Mig 29)

In 1992, the Blue Angels took the show to Moscow, a country they'd spent their careers learning to fight. ( ? Blue Angels trip in Moscow, Russia, 1992 - YouTube ) This was quite an experience for all involved, and was the epitome of the [...]

1/48 Testors OV-10 Bronco

Playtime ! I would say it's a "whiffie" but, after the model was finished, I saw a drawing of the OV-10 with proposed floats. To my knowledge, the real deal never came about. I had built this as a joke, along with several [...]

The Clippers were first flown in 1935. In 1936 the China Clipper made the first ever commercial double crossing of the Pacific Ocean. Trans-Pacific flights spanned 5 days and 60 hours of actual flying. By 1940, two of these aircraft [...]

Revell 1/72 "S" Boot (D-Day Group Build)

As previously stated, two different sources report: On the morning of 6 June 1944, D-Day, 31 battle ready S-boats were sent to attack the Allied fleet. Although several vessels were sunk, against such a mass of ships (4126 landing craft [...]

1/48 Focke Wulf FW190

You guys were having so much fun kicking the "109" around, that I thought I'd post a "190" for you to play with. Instead of comparing brand names, I mean to let you guess the manufacturer according to the usual [...]

Fujimi 1/48 Focke- Wulf Fw190 D-9

When Fujimi came out with this beauty, it was "state of the art". Decades have passed since then, but it still sits on my shelf collecting dust. Back when I built it, my reference material was limited. I had a picture post [...]

AA 1/48 F-7E (Chinese fighter)

This was a crude kit, but little flash and not much putty work. The price was right (on sale), and I was fairly pleased with the build. The quality was that of a early 80's kit, that is to say, simple, with not much detail. At first I [...]

Pegasus 1/48 E-Z Snapz P-51B (Tuskeegee)

Pegasus 1/48 E-Z Snapz P-51B (Tuskeegee) is the kit, to which was added Eagle Strike Checkertail Clan decals. I was watching "Checkertails Parts 1 & 2- a Documentary by Neil "Mysticpuma" Pugh, on YouTube. It was a very [...]

Hobbycraft 1/48 Piper J-3/L-4 Cub

As part of Neil's "D-Day Group Build", I thought I would add something a little out of the ordinary, a forgotten "combatant". Most people identify D-Day with big guns and bombers, fighters ruling the skies, and [...]
