My modelling interests centred originally around aircraft, but other projects include armour, civilian vehicles, figures, ships and dioramas, and these have achieved gold-medal standards at the British Nationals and other regional exhibitions.

I've had a few projects featured in photo galleries on Cybermodeler, Armorama, and Aeroscale, but find I'm never really satisfied with a completed model, and so keep building in hope of achieving that elusive 'perfect model'.

I enjoy looking at the work of other modellers, for inspiration.

Telford 2017

I’m sure I’m posting this in the wrong place but anyway here are a few snaps from SMW2017 before it’s open to the public. I’m not doing loads of posts this year but if there’s anything anyone wants me to look for I’ll see if I [...]

Anniversary of Battle of Trafalgar, October 21, 1805

Thirty seconds of serious firepower as would be seen from enemy ship more than two centuries ago. Pretty impressive. (link)

Scale Model Challenge 2017

A few reposts from SMC 2017 in Eindhoven this past weekend.

Stalingrad Revisited

In Headlines three years ago, nearly to the week, I posted this Jeff Shiu Miniatures 120mm resin figure of a German Grenadier at Stalingrad; I was never happy with the painting. Since then, my figure painting skills have improved somewhat, [...]

London Gunbus (Post-Apocalypse Time War)

This concept project uses as its base kit Revell's 1/24 scale London Routemaster. It's had a bit of surgery, to accept the various clock/watch parts, and I've added numerous other details. The pilot figure is ex Vintage Fighter Series, [...]

Review: Kitty Hawk 1/48 UH-1D “Huey” – Build Review, Part 3

Into the final stages of the build now, but first I wanted to revisit a comment I made in Part 2 about the side vents at the base of the rotor mast. There have been one or two comments about this and I wanted to clarify an issue. Step 11 [...]

Review: Kitty Hawk 1/48 UH-1D “Huey”Build Review, Part 2

The first part of this review can be found here: (link) Moving on with the main body of the machine, I'm now finding a few discrepancies - nothing major, but you need your wits about you. In these photos, you can see that there are a few [...]

Sopwith Camel F.1 – Finals

The snub-nosed, pugnacious look of this aircraft is instantly recognisable as a Sopwith Camel. I've previously posted Headline articles relating to significant sections of this project, a 1/16 model from Model Airways, because of the [...]

Sopwith Camel F.1 – Upside Down and Back to Front: Undercarriage and Lower Plane

This is the final instalment of the 1:16 Sopwith Camel F1 build sequence. The remaining work is with the main and cabane struts, upper plane and rigging, so the next time I post (all being well) it will be to show the completed project. If [...]
