As far as building models go, my main interest is WWII era aircraft, those newer planes (I think they are called 'jets') seem to be missing the most important part - the spinning thing on the front! I admire the skills involved in all the models here though, including jets, cars, armor, and ships.

I am a longtime musician, player of banjo, bass, dobro, mandolin and electric guitars, in bluegrass, rock and country bands, though I've semi-retired from that, seeking quieter activities. For my non-hobby time I am a 2nd generation land surveyor, Licensed in Virginia and West Virgina, and have been doing tht for over 35 years now.

Another interest of mine is astronomy and astrophotography.
See this link for some samples I have posted:

410 Hornet

Hi all, Here is just completed Messerschmitt 410 Hornet, or Hornisse a Revell "Pro Modeler" kit in 1/48 scale This was a challenge as I really had a fight to get the canopy together, on the fuselage and still enclosing the parts [...]

F-5E Photo Recon

Here's my just completed, fresh baked, F-5E Photo Recon, an Italeri 1/48 kit. I read some reviews of this kit after I bought it and before I started it that had me worried, but it really went together good. I'm glad I didn't read them [...]

BF-109G-10, 1/48

Here is my just completed BF-109G-10. I admire the subtle, yet complex, mottled Luftwaffe paint schemes more advanced model builders achieve and wanted to try one. Not being equipped with an air brush and not expecting great results, I [...]

Spitfire Mk. IX, 1/48

Well I have been wanting to build a Spitfire for some time now...I read somewhere on iModeler that "you can't have too many Spitfires", so I may just have to build another one! This is from the Italeri "American Aces" [...]

SB2C-4 Helldiver

Well this is my just finished 1/48 scale Revell Pro-Modeler SB2C-4 Helldiver, in the colors and markings of VB-84, U.S.S. Bunker Hill, 1945. I read that the Helldiver was not universally loved by those who used it, but I imagine this big [...]

Hasegawa P-400

This is a Hasegawa 1/48 P-400 "Shark Teeth" that I decided to do toothless...it is my approximation or guesstimate, if you will,of a P-39/400(?) in North Africa, 1943. I just finished reading "An Army At Dawn" about the [...]

Italeri Crusader III, 1/35

Here's my just completed 2nd model tank, a British Crusader III done in decals and paint to represent 7th Hussars (cool word..."hussars") 4th Armoured Brigade, 7th Armoured Division XIII Corps, 8th Army, North Africa, 1942, so [...]

M3A1 Stuart, Academy 1/35 scale

First model tanks I've built since oh...1980 or so. I decided to give this one it's own name and not build any of the 4 versions this kit has decals for. I just kind of wanted a name on there that looks like it was "scrawled on in the [...]

HE-115, 1/48, done. more done, really done

Well I did some weathering, trying not to over do it and added the exhaust pipes which I had forgotten, and antenna wire, in the process broke the nose gun in two, which I didn't even notice until I looked at these photos...that is typical [...]

Heinkel HE-115B, 1/48

Well not too much to say about this, the big thing is I am calling it done. This is a Special Hobby brand kit, a first of those for me. Clint Eastwood said "a man's got to know his limitations" - there's a lot of truth in that [...]
