I started building models back in the 1960's. In the 70's and 80's is when I built most of my kits. 1/72 scale, WWII is what I built the most but I do like 1/48 single engine fighters too. I have also built jets from the 50's, a few Sci Fi models and Gemini/Apollo program model kits from Revell and Monogram. My favorite builds are the old Revell, Matchbox, Frog and Airfix kits that needed some work but showed potential if built out of the box. In April 2020 I made my comeback into this great hobby after 30 years of not building a kit. I am pretty happy to be back.
Happy New Year to all and here are my builds for 2022.
I think I had a pretty good year, almost all were old kits. Some were repeat builds from the late 60's to the 80's and some were first time builds. I had a blast with most of my [...]
Another build from the Matchbox Group Build to celebrate Matchbox's 50th Anniversary to when they first released plastic model kits.
This may not be the best A-20 out there but I feel for its time, Matchbox did a nice job on providing the [...]
This Spitfire was built for a Matchbox Group Build that is still currently going on to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Matchbox to when they first started releasing their injected mold kits in 1972. In regards to this group build, I [...]
The theme for this month's club meeting was Sci-Fi and I decided to do something that I once made when I was 9, the Seaview from the movie and series "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea."
I have two Seaviews in my stash, one from [...]
A couple of months ago I started work on these two kits, Revell's and Frog's F4F-4 Wildcats. I wanted to build them together like the way I did with my Bearcats back in March and enjoy the whole process. My original game plan was to build [...]
This is an old kit released by Airfix in 1972, it can be made as a Mk.I or a Mk.II. For this build I chose to build it as a Mk.I.
I added some details for the cockpit, scratch built the wheel well, replaced the propeller with a resin De [...]
My second Hurricane build in the past 6 weeks. I’ve been involved on a few different group builds in Facebook since April. One was “The Shelf of Doom” in which I finally completed my recent Sea Fury and Vacuform MBR-2. The other two [...]
The Russian MBR-2 was designed by Georgy Mikhailovich Beriev and first flew in 1931, this was his first plane that he designed and put into production. From October 1934 to 1968, he ran the Central Design Office for marine aircraft in [...]
An oldie but goodie, Heller originally released this kit in 1977. This was my third build of this kit, my first was in 1978 and at the time I felt it was the best Hurricane Mk. II in 1/72 scale. Most of this build was straight out of the [...]
I started this build probably near the end of 1989, the year this kit was released. I got as far as airbrushing the Sky Type S paint on to it but stopped and left it on my shelf. As time went by the box and the rest of the parts for this [...]
