iModeler Aviation

Building, painting and finishing scale aircraft models.

Polikarpov I-16

I just read Tom Cleaver's post of his build of this fine kit and was inspired to post mine after I decided not to bother. I usually shoot a few photos of a new build indoors to check for flaws, omissions, mistakes, etc. Before I could [...]

Trumpeter 1/32 Swordfish Mk. III

A replicated upscale of the magnificent Tamiya 1/48 Swordfish, Trumpeter's counterpart is even more impressive thanks to its larger size.

ProModeller 1/48 F-84G Thunderjet

A very nice depiction of the Thunderjet by ProModeller/Revell. The intake part though, requires attention because it is significantly smaller in diameter than the fuselage front.

Airfix's 48th Scale de Havilland Vampire F.3

According to BAE Systems, The success of the Gloster Meteor led to the De Havilland Aircraft Company being approached to design and build an airframe for the Halford H1 turbojet engine (later to become the DH Goblin). Initially designated [...]

Wingman Model 1/48 Kfir TC 2

The Kfir TC 2 was a late development of the aircraft converting to a two seater version that was used for training. The combination of the Kinetic Kfir kit platform and the long resin nose presented a serious build challange.

Curtiss YC-30 Condor

Here’s another $5.00 rescue kit I picked up at the bargain table at a contest awhile back, the Glencoe Curtiss Model T-32 Condor in 1:48. It’s kind of crude by today’s standards, but I wanted a Condor. It is my one and only build of [...]

Macchi MC.202 Folgore, used by Regia Aeronautica 84. Squadriglia, 10. Gruppo, 4. Stormo. Located in Sicily 1943. Very fine looking aircraft, one of the best Italian Air Force fighter during WW2. Painted with Lifecolor acrylics (Regia [...]

Dragon 1/48 Ju 88G-6

At some stage during the entry to service of the Ju 88G series the Germans thought that it would be advantageous to hide the development of new aircraft types with a silhouetted camouflage depicting the C version tail. The effectiveness of [...]

1/72 Macchi C.200, Hobby Boss 80291

I learned a few things building this Macchi C.200 from Hobby Boss (#80291). First thing as the name, Saetta translates to Lightning. Another was the initial C. stood for Castoldi to emphasize recognition of the Macchi company chief [...]

Meng 1/48 EA-18G Growler

Meng's Growler is a very good kit with nicely engraved panel lines and a good fit of parts. The only criticism I have for the kit is the somewhat crude design of cockpit and related decals. In other words, the canopy is better kept closed.
