Grumman F8F Bearcat

F8F-1B Bearcat, VNAF 1st FS 1963

When I bought this kit, I was really dissapointed. Really poor in everything. I was almost convinced to put it into trash bin. But then I saw some works of one guy, who built really old fashioned and really really poor kits so nicely that [...]

Another Reno Racing F8F-2 Bearcat.

Do I have the right "id" number on this model? I added some "PE" parts to the cockpit, but left out the "PE" parts for the wheel wells. I must have had a photo and/or a drawing of the wheel wells, otherwise I [...]

Another 1/48 Scale F8F-2 Racing Bearcat #10.

My first photo show's a black & white photo that I took out of Reed Kinert's air racing book. The paper back book had a red cover, but I don't remember its' name. I just cut out dozens of photos and scanned them into our Apple p.c. [...]

F8F-2 RACING BEARCAT MODEL

The black and white photo was in one of my many airplane books and one day I went searching on the web for a model kit that had these beautiful decals. I found the blue cast resin model by "Hi Planes" which was located in [...]

Here’s my grimy looking Blue Angels’ F8F-1 “Beetle Bomb” Bearcat circa late 1949 as it might have looked after a hard weekend working an airshow. Note the attached photo of the actual plane. By early 1948 the Blue Angels were [...]

Hobbyboss 1/48 F8F-1 Bearcat

the Grumman F8F-1 Bearcat came on the scene too late to serve the U.S. Navy in WW11.. they were on the carriers halfway across the Pacific when the war with Japan ended...it was the fastest thing Grumman ever came up with to that point and [...]

Building Darryl Greenamyer’s American Jet

Darryl Greenamyer donated this aircraft to the Smithsonian Museum in 1977. I first laid eyes on it at the Silver Hills storage facility and I have wanted to build it as a model ever since. Today you can see this historical aircraft up [...]

Year of the Cat

this is the Hobby Boss F8F-1 straight from the box. A great build and I think the Hobby Boss kit is a wonderful kit of their aircraft. I used the kit decals and they represent an A/C of VF-3 flown by Lt A.M.Granat in 1946.

Year of the Cat: 1/48 Testors/Hawk F8F-2 Bearcat

I want to thank Louis Gardner for starting this group build and inviting me to come along with my cat entry. Since I was a little late to the party I picked a kit that I thought would be simple and fast. So presented for your view today is [...]
