History:
The Royal Navy received 48 Phantoms. In service 30th april 1968, retired 27 november 1978. Due to its seize, operations were limited to HMS Eagle and HMS Ark Royal.
The twin reheating Rolls-Royce powered F4K Phantom had some [...]
F-4F Phantom (Revell, AirDoc, 1:32)
This build was made for a collector in germany. He likes the F-4 very much, as he was living near an airfield base in earlier times. He wants me to build exactly this aircraft before it has gone to a museum-hangar. It was a big challenge, [...]
VF-74 Round up
Three Phantoms- one old build, two fairly recent, The first is I believe VF-74's first scheme of the 1960's . I used an old Hasegawa F-4J which really is a 'B' because of the thin wings, Airfix decals, crudely dropped the slats and flaps [...]
Dog day afternoon plus.
While with Vf-31 line Div. oneday this lovable mutt happened upon our flight line. We took care of him for two days before base security, NAS Oceana VA, took him away. Fresh water wash down on Saratoga. Maintenance shots VF-31 and VF-74. [...]
Phantasy Phantoms
First Phantasy: The Navy was forced to buy the F-111b, it proved totally useless in squadron service, The F-14 was pushed back even further, Mcdonnell Douglas, stepped in with the F-4 VS,and the Navy finally gets a gun for their F-4 . it [...]
The British are coming.
This is another way back. The Ark Royal's Air wing was being hosted at NAS Oceana Virginia in 1975.
This is the end…
Inspired by photos in a book about Phantoms, sadly this the fate of many an obsolete aircraft. I think they were located at a Marine air station in Hawaii, being used for parts. It started out as esci/ertl kit 1/72 F-4S.
F-4Egg
Hasegawa's egg F-4 converted to of course a Navy F-4, of VF-11 and the required Plane captain, I hope I don't bore you guys With F-4's, I've got a few more... Someone ordered snakeyes?
F 4 Phantom Group Build
My contribution for the group build will be Academy's F 4B dressed up in Vagabond decals for VF 84's SEA 1965 cruise. Eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Aires cockpit set to add some spice to an excellent kit.
1/48 JASDF F-4EJ
1/48 Hasegawa F-4EJ built OOB with the exception of a pair of True Detail seats and the intake plugs from AMS. Decals are from Zotz.
