It's here!! Trumpeter 1/32 TBD-1
The beeg box from Squadron landed on the front porch here at Le Chateau du Chat an hour ago.
Preliminary observation: I was right that it is based on the Great Wall Hobby kit. That's good news. Other than everything is big, nothing looks [...]
Review: At last, a large scale TBD – Trumpeter 1/32 Douglas TBD-1 Devastator
"Mythical", according to Merriam-Webster, is defined as :existing only in the imagination: fictitious, imaginary. Well, for how many years now has a Trumpeter 1/32 scale TBD Devastator been dangled in front of the modeling [...]
I have seen the Trumpeter 1/32 TBD-1 Devastator - Good News
Was up at the LHS this afternoon and they had one of the new Trumpeter 1/32 TBD-1 Devastator kits.
Yes! Thirty years of "coming soon" has arrived! It's no longer vaporware. It's real.
So how is it?
It's like this: 20 years ago [...]
TBD-1 Devastator Monogram 1/48 and Tamiya figures "WW2 pilots with moto-tug" 1/48
Hello friends,
here comes my TBD-1 Douglas Devastator from Monogram in 1/48. The kit was released in 1974 and cannot live up to the high standard of the Great Wall Hobby kit. I also would like to point out that there are better built [...]

This was flown by LtCdr. Massey and RMC1c Grent, over the Kwajalein lagoon in Marshall Islands. Massey was later lost at Midway.
The kit is an old boxing of the Airfix kit. Except for the crude clear parts, the kit was pretty clean. The [...]
Score!!
Found these two on the web, at a reasonable price. I have noticed of late that prices have gotten way out of hand. I bagged these with shipping for around 20 dollars US each. Some listings , for the TBD goes for three times as much or more.
1/48 GWH Douglas TBD-1 Devastator – Midway
Plenty has been written on these iModeler pages about the history of the Douglas TBD-1 Devastator. Let’s just say that this wasn’t one of Douglas’s finer achievements. All fifteen TBD’s of VT-8 were shot down during the battle of [...]
PTO builds you say?
I'm in with my classic Monogram SBD, built as close to intended by the gang in Morton Grove as I could, then my Monogram TBD, with some scratchbuilt details, and my Tamiya 1/32 Corsair! I actually think the SBD is my favorite, brought [...]
TBD-1 DEVASTATOR from Airfix in 1/72, an experiment…
TBD-1 DEVASTATOR from Airfix in 1/72 scale
Hello, after a long break I have a new, but very old NAVY plane for you.
TBD-1 DEVASTATOR from Airfix in 1/72 scale. I represent a plane of VT-8 from USS HORNET. Note: The overpainted “8 –“ [...]
An Old USA Navy Airplane
Thanks to the invention of the "net" I was able to get some quality "Life Magazine" photo's of the old airplane on a carrier deck and in flight. As a kid growing up during WW-II we all bought Life Magazine's weekly [...]
