My modelling interests centred originally around aircraft, but other projects include armour, civilian vehicles, figures, ships and dioramas, and these have achieved gold-medal standards at the British Nationals and other regional exhibitions.

I've had a few projects featured in photo galleries on Cybermodeler, Armorama, and Aeroscale, but find I'm never really satisfied with a completed model, and so keep building in hope of achieving that elusive 'perfect model'.

I enjoy looking at the work of other modellers, for inspiration.

Arado 196 in 1/32

This is the Revell kit that was issued about three years ago. After a couple of 'clean' photos, I added a (modified) Verlinden figure, inspired by the photo at the end of this series. If you haven't built or otherwise seen this kit, it has [...]

Stringbag Mk 1 Floatplane

Continuing the recent occasional Fleet Air Arm theme, here are a few photos of Tamiya's 1/48 Swordfish, c1940, with a record photo of the actual aircraft. The rigging is from a Tamiya detail-up etch set. The subject is often modelled with [...]

Endgame - Berlin 1945

While I've been absent-mindedly progessing (well, we'll call it that) with my Royal Caroline wooden ship, and from time to time checking out the lovely builds on iM (and, just to keep in the loop, posting a few builds I've completed in the [...]

PBY-5A Catalina – Black Cats VP-81 ‘Nite Life’ – New Georgia 1944

This is the 1/48 Monogram kit, purchased as the -10A post-WWII Rescue version. I thought a colourful scheme of internediate blue-over-white finishes, with bright red and yellow bands, would make a big impression as a scheme. When I opened [...]

SDB-3 Dauntless ‘Battle of Midway’

I was reading Tom's terrific article from November 11 (here in Britain, Armistice Day, first designated to honour the dead of the Great War), and another great battle of the Pacific theatre in WW2 came to mind - Midway. It's always been [...]

Scale Model World Telford 2013 (Pt 3)

Here are the last few photos I'm posting from the Nationals. Once again, apologies in advance for any duplications across the three postings. Check out Part 2 as it was updated with additional images after the original posting. By the [...]

UPDATED Scale Model World Telford 2013 (Pt 2 )

A further selection of photos now included, after I cropped them a little to reduce file sizes for upload. Cheers!

Scale Model World Telford 2013

I've attached a fairly random selection from the 50th annversary weekend. With the number of clubs (chapters) and SIGs, taking a (conservative) average of 50 models per group together with the competition area display, I estimate there [...]

Nakajima Ki44 Shoki (Tojo)

Here's one of Hasagawa's Tojo subjects in 1/32, with an Eduard Big Ed set. I particularly liked the Eduard detailing for the engine, undercarriage, and cockpit. The masking set was also useful. There were numerous other minute pieces that [...]

1952 Hudson Hornet

This is Moebius Models' 1952 Hudson Hornet. I never built a car kit before, and may never again, but there was something about this subject I found appealing. I detailed-up the engine - plug leads and other cabling/wiring. You can just [...]
