F-105D Marineflieger, 1/72 Hasegawa

What if the West Germans back in the day replaced their F-84’s with the Thud instead of the F-104? Less fatalities, maybe, I don’t know. I got this off the net, there was supposed to be a ‘B'[ shorter nose] in the box but it turned out to be a ‘D’. Not having any suitable USAF decals I decided to do a whatifer. Republic had hoped to market the 105 internationally but it wasn’t to be. The kit is ancient as are the decals I used. Included is a history of the kit in instructions.

  1. looks fantastic in that scheme…great what if

  2. Great idea again, Robert! I think the German 104 losses seriously dropped off after they moved the training to New Mexico. Inexperienced pilots, hot plane, and German weather didn’t mix well.

  3. 🙂 … Greetings … 🙂 :
Nice WHAT IF project, again , good use of the imagination.

  4. One of the first kits I can remember buying/building….what memories.

  5. A fun project nicely executed!

  6. Your Thud looks great in that colour scheme Robert. Well done.
