F4U-1D - Corsair - VF84
Dear Modellers,
Here is my version of the 1/32 Corsair F4U-1D. It took me 10 months to build it. I spent a lot of time building the cockpit and engine. I used this time a lot of products from ANYZ and the belts are from HGW models. I used AK Real Colors for the body. I found it a bit too grey and the blue hue was missing. So I added a blue filter on the top, a subtle but present effect depending on the light angle.
You will find 3 sections in the thumbnail below; The plane, the Cockpit, and the engine.
Time well-spent creating a masterpiece. Stunning.
Many thanks, Bob for your kind message 🙂
Wow, very impressive, Alex @modalex6149
So much detail and all perfectly done.
Besides all the details, the weathering looks great as well.
Many thanks, John for your kind and supportive message, plus the mention 🙂🙂
Masterpiece is the appropriate word- easily some of the best work I've seen on this site. . . wow!
Many thanks, David, for your WOW message 🙂
Excellent work, Alex. You got the yellow primer on the wings that most miss when doing heavily used Corsairs.
Many thanks, John for your kind message 🙂
I spent a lot of time gathering and consulting documents before starting this build. I noticed in several pictures this effect on the root of the wings. That was certainly due to the mechanical constraints that have worn the paint with time. And this yellow pops nicely with the very dark US marine blue.
Outstanding - looks like a hard working warbird!
Many thanks, Chas for your kind message 🙂
Outstanding! What a superb effort.
Many thanks, John for your kind message 🙂
As close to perfect as I have seen. When I see work of this level I question what I am even doing. I build for fun and relaxation and for love of older planes. Work of this caliber is beyond my reach. Congratulations
Many thanks, Mark for your kind message 🙂
Same here, scale modelling is really the activity where I can disconnect. I can't see the time running and feel calmer and relaxed after a good building session. My way to balance my life.
Gorgeous work! congratulations on all the weathering and detailing- looks amazing.
I have been hoping to get hold of Tamiya's 1/32 1A and 1D at some point. I love the Birdcage I got hold of, just need to build it!
Dan from Bermuda.
Many thanks, Dan, for your kind message from the Bermuda's Triangle 😉
I was a fan of the "Baa Baa Black Sheep" series when I a was kid... yes long long long time ago 😀
The Corsair, with its particular wing shape, was definitely my favorite plane since that time.
This kit is really accurate and pleasant to build, you will enjoy it 🙂
You’ve really made the most of this kit.
Many thanks, George for your kind message 🙂
This is such wonderful work, Alex! Excellent in every respect!
Congratulations!
Many thanks, my friend, for your kind message and your support 🙂
Great looking build , nice article as well. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Many thanks, Mark, for your kind message 🙂
Hehe, I spent more time trying to take nice pics than writing a long article 😉
Fantastic in every respect. Thanks for sharing.
Many thanks for your kind message 🙂 Hope my next post will be not in 10 months 😀
This is an incredible build. Several years ago we had a "Model of the Month" award here on Imodeler. Your Corsair would be a worthy contender if it was still happening today. This looks like you somehow managed to travel back in time, shrink down a full sized "U bird" to 1/32 size, and then bring the results back home with you.
The Corsair is my favorite plane... so I'll definitely be clicking on several of the "like" buttons.
Well done !
Many thanks, Louis, for your very kind and supportive message. Wow! Do you really think I would have been the "model" of the month! with a little frame with my picture and model 😀
Your message and all other messages in this post are my best award 🙂
Museum level build. Better put that baby under glass. Thanks for sharing.
Many thanks, Matt, for your very kind message 🙂
It would be a dream to work for a museum. For now, I have 2 display cabinets almost full 😛
That is incredible scale modeling, Alex @modalex6149! 🏆 And it's some of the most realistic modeling I've seen lately. Kudos to you, sir, and if you have two displays full of work such as this, that must be a sight to see! 😁
Thanks for posting this beauty and for the inspiration! 👍
Many thanks, Gary, for your very kind message, kudo, and mention, yahoooooo! 🙂 🙂 🙂
Your paint and weathering work is masterful! A beautiful model.
Many thanks, Greg, for your very kind message 🙂
