A-1H Skyraider US Navy

March 25, 2019 · in Aviation · · 24 · 2.6K

This is the 1/48th Douglas A-1H . US Navy. VA25 squadron. The only additions to the kit, apart from the decals, were etched seat belts. I used Acrylic Matt Light Gull Grey, and Tamiya Matt White to paint the model. The decals are from Aeromaster set 48-530. Black Gouache was used for the panel lines and exhaust stain.

  2. Julian your Spad shine in all the right areas. Stunning! Well done!

  3. Nice looking Spad, Julian, good representation of a great workhorse. One actually shot down a Mig in Vietnam service.

  4. Love those Tamiya Skyraiders...good work, Julian.

  5. Very clean build and finish! Congratulations!

  6. Nice! A great build.

  7. Very sharp looking.

  8. That Skyraider is so clean, there must be something dangerously mechanically wrong with it, as any Spad driver would tell you. 🙂

  9. That's a handsome dump truck, Julian! Nicely done.

  10. Nice Spad, Julian!

  11. Really nice build, I love the markings...all you need is the commode on the right wing 🙂

    • Thank you Jim. That's the one. Not sure I could have made my Skyraider that dirty without making it look a total mess. That's why I stick to the polished look. As I'm sure you know, there was a scale commode available for anyone wishing to model that particular aircraft.

  12. Julian, Nice work on a nice kit. I've only built one of these kits and enjoyed every minute of the build. Yours turned out wonderful, and looks very nice. Well done !

    • Thank you Terry. They really are nice kits. The tooling is twenty years old now. I find them so easy to assemble. I even made a What-If in Royal Navy colours I enjoyed building them so much.
