South Pacific Corsair

February 14, 2022 · in Aviation · · 10 · 1.5K

This model represents the "Spirit of 76" flown by Major Robert G. Owens, USMC with Marine squadron VMF-215. This aircraft was the first to arrive at the newly captured airfield at Munda, New Georgia in the Solomon Islands where the squadron began operations to cover the landings on Vella Lavella.

The kit is the -1 "Birdcage." The decals were EagleCal. Paints were mainly AK Interactive Real Colors. Weathering was achieved using oils. No rigging because I broke the tab on the vertical stabilizer...there's a few other unforced errors. Not my best effort but thought I'd share non-the-less.
