I'm currently a Locomotive Engineer with KiwiRail in Christchurch New Zealand, having recently completed 23 years service in the New Zealand Police where I held the rank of Sergeant. Prior to this I also served as a medic in the Royal New Zealand Air Force. I have 3 daughters, and I've been modelling since I was about 6 years old. I inherited my interest from spending time with my father in his model shed. I mainly do Armor, but will do whatever grabs my attention, as sometimes its good just to have a bit of fun.
These are photos of my fathers collection in his 'man cave' out the back of his garage. He has been modeling since he was young and would have made his first kit back in the 1950s. He has finally decided that its time for his collection to [...]
This is the Academy Stug IV. Pretty simple kit, but at 1/2 the price of other similar kits on the market its pretty good. Went together well and wnen it's all finished it definitely looks like it's ready for action.
I've always wanted to [...]
The Husky is mine detection vehicle used by the United States Army, that I never knew existed until I stumbled over this kit from Panda while on Ebay. I had never heard of Panda kits so wasn't sure what I was gonna get. Was very happy with [...]
I don't really do Modern Russian stuff, not sure why?, just never really caught my attention. However this did, and just after I ordered it, my IPMS club announced our group build for the year was 'Russian', so excellent timing.
I'm happy [...]
This is an experiment I've been wanting to try for a while, making an explosion with an LED bulb and cotton wool. I'm not as happy with it as I'd hoped, but it works, so I'll go with that. Who knew fluffing up and spraying cotton wool [...]
This is yet another eBay find that I wasn't expecting while looking for something else. I didnt even know the kit existed.
I quite enjoyed this build as I usually do military stuff that's green or gray, so something a bit brighter (in [...]
Something I have always wanted to do is a D-Day US Navy LCM (Landing Craft Mechanized) but have always been worried about doing sea water. But when my local club said the group build was D-Day theme then it was time to conquer my 'fear of [...]
Time for something COMPLETELY different. Felt like having a bit of a play with something I've always been fasinated by; sunken tank graveyards.
Here I've attempted to show a 1/35th Japanese Type 97 medium tank sunken in shallow water off a [...]
This is the 1/35 Takom Mark IV Male WW1 Heavy Battle Tank depicted stuck in a trench system while the battle continues around it.
The figures are Masterbox and ICM. I think the ICM figures are a brand to watch as they have interesting [...]
This is a cool wee kit of a limited production tank of which only about 16 saw war service, and mostly against the Russians.
It's very chunky considering it's a 'small' tank.
I also used (for the first time) a foldable photo booth that I [...]
