I'm currently a Locomotive Engineer with KiwiRail in Christchurch New Zealand, having recently completed 23 years service in the New Zealand Police where I held the rank of Sergeant. Prior to this I also served as a medic in the Royal New Zealand Air Force. I have 3 daughters, and I've been modelling since I was about 6 years old. I inherited my interest from spending time with my father in his model shed. I mainly do Armor, but will do whatever grabs my attention, as sometimes its good just to have a bit of fun.

WW1 Model-T Ford Ambulance, Western Front 1918

ICM 1/35 scale with Master box figures. Nice simple little kit that was fun to build. Well except for the decals! Not sure if I just got a bad bunch but they were a nightmare to apply. As soon as they came out of the water they kept [...]

“Covering Fire!”

This is a Tamiya M113 kit I built about 5 years ago. I added a Recoilless rifle off an old Dragon Mule kit and after market accessories from Black Dog and Verlinden. The figures are from Bravo 6 (resin), and are really good. The base is [...]

Any landing you walk away from is a good one….

This is the 1/48 Eduard French Nieuport Ni-11, my first ever Bi-Plane, and last completed build of 2016. I have always wanted to build a WW1 Bi-Plane but never got around to it until now. Its from the box (with the addition of rigging) and [...]

1/48 Hobby Boss T-34

This is the first Hobby Boss kit I've built, and I was not ready for all the internal detail, complete engine and crew compartment - what a fabulous kit! Unfortunately with what I had planned for it I never built the interior, except for [...]

Ordnance disposal – Iraq

Two firsts for me here, a Takom kit and Meng kit. The Takom is the 1/35 'Civilian car' which comes with a terrorist and bombs for the boot, and the Meng 1/35 Ordnance Disposal Specialists (2 figures and 2 robots). Both kits were very good [...]

Bandai 1/72 X-Wing

This is the first Bandai kit I have ever made, and first 1/72 kit in maybe 20 years. I ordered the Bandai kit off eBay and wasn't really expecting much. Was I wrong! - what a great little kit, heaps of really good detail and it fitted [...]

Star Wars Snow Speeder – Battle of Hoth

.This diorama using the AMT/ERTL Star Wars Snow speeder kit has been on my ‘to do’ list for years. I always wanted to build it crashed after being inspired while watching the movie The Empire Strikes Back many years ago as a kid. The [...]

Christmas in Europe

This is a story of hope, not just for modellers, but for their long struggling wives and partners who sometimes don’t quite ‘get us’. Who has ever been asked “Why do you need a new kit? You have heaps in the shed you haven’t [...]
