I've been model making as long as I can remember! I started with the good ol' Airfix aircraft and moved on from there. I now make armour as well as aircraft, with the occasional submarine (if it has internal detail!) thrown in. I'm based in the UK, but I do travel if I can. Sadly, this isn't very much due to my health. I'll post some pics of my work when I can
Tamiya Chieftain Mk3. Ok, the box says Mk5, but it's not. The kit is really a Mk3 with a few Mk5 features. I've used the Eduard photo etch set, which does lift this Tamiya kit. Although old, the Tamiya kit should not be written totally off [...]
Another of the Takom Chieftain's, in this case the Stillbrew Mk11. This is a great kit, but I think that the Stillbrew panels are too perfect. I've taken pictures of three different Stillbrew Chieftains, all of which have a rougher texture [...]
This is the Takom Chieftain Mk 2 straight OOB. Fantastic kit, virtually fell together. All Takom's Chieftains leave little to be desired and I love them! I've got a very nice Berlin one coming along, but this will be a bit different...
I'm not a great one for "what if" modelling, but I made an exception on this because this so nearly DID happen. When the Labour party cancelled the TSR2 (the best strike aircraft the RAF never had) they then bought into the [...]
Here is a line up of 1/35th Leopards from various manufacturers. The 1 A1 is the old Tamiya kit. I'm going to replace it soon with the new mould Revell kit. The 1 A4 again is Tamiya. Revell (old mould) provides the Leopard 1 A5A5. This [...]
This is the Tamiya 1/35th Panther G on the Miniart base. It's an attempt to recreate the latter stages of the Battle of the Bulge, when the Germans had to retreat, abandoning much of their equipment due to lack of fuel. I went for the [...]
This is a combination of the Tamiya Spitfire MkV and the Pavla PR conversion kit. Both are great in their own right. This was an easy and very pleasant build indeed. The aircraft was painted in overall RAF Sky. The PR Spitfires were kept [...]
This was a trial run at making a "Stillbrew" Chieftain. I started on this before Takom's great series was announced. I used a set of old plans that had been published in MAFVA (Miniature Armoured Fighting Vehicles Association) [...]
Tamiya Chieftain, corrected to a Mark 5 with Clansman radio fit. I based the cam on the tank on various photos of Chieftains on exercise in Germany
This is the PCM 1/32 Spitfire. Lovely kit, a real gem. Maybe not as great as the Tamiya kit, but much cheaper by comparison. You pays your money and takes your chance, as they say. I made this kit when I was having treatment at Combat [...]
