A UK expatriate now settled in Australia & living in Brisbane's Northern Suburbs.
I mostly build 1/48 scale aircraft, though I am known to take diversionary strolls into the one true scale (1/72) & build the odd 1/35th AFV. I returned to the hobby back in the early nineties when a mate from work sold me some of his old kits. I went on to build intermittently (read once in a blue moon) and am now trying to make amends.
The last of my Airfix builds for 2016, though this strictly speaking isn't one of mine, but rather my daughter Aemilia's build...I just painted it, and stuck a few more bits on when she lost interest...
Purchased back in 2015 from our [...]
Airfix's 1/72 Red Arrows Gnat Stater Set completed earlier this year (2016).
Built pretty much out of box, except I discarded the paints that came with the set & opted for Vallejo acrylics, buffed and then layered with generous coats [...]
If you want an accurate 'kerbside' representation of a Bf.109E you really can't go far wrong with Airfix's 1/48 scale offering released some five or six years ago.
It's not a bad kit, not as well finessed as the Eduard kit, but a lot [...]
To keep with the theme of things Airfix this is a recent out of box build of their Spitfire Mk1a starter set: Purchased for the princely sum of $10 a year or so ago from my local Aldi Supermarket in the Northern Suburbs of Brisbane, this [...]
One of Trumpeter's early offerings was the Swedish S Tank: the Srv 103B. This is my first go at doing a tank in 1/35th, and I elected to choose one of my all time favourites to start my foray into AFV modelling.
It's a pretty [...]
Eduard's diminutive 1/72 Albatros D.V with markings from Jasta 12, from the summer of 1917
This is Eduard's non profi-pack offering from 2000, a no thrills basic kit that looked pretty nice in the box.
This was built for my daughter, [...]
The Dragon 1/48 Fw190D-9 with a slightly different scheme than normal! A Dora under the Red Star:
This model depicts one of a number operated by the Soviet Red Army out of Marienburg, East Prussia from the Spring of 1945. These allegedly [...]
The Mirage Hobby's 1/48 PZL P-11c which I built about five years ago. This was Poland's standard day fighter in the September Campaign of 1939, and is a pretty iconic aircraft for anyone interested in Polish aviation.
The markings are [...]
My first completed project for 2015 is Eduard's 1/48 Yak-3.
The markings are for Yellow 15 flown by Semion Rogow, 1st Guard's Division in 1945.
It's one of the early Profi Pack editions dating back to the late nineties, & I picked [...]
Getting in my last one before 2014 is over, is a project I completed about this time last year: ICM's Yak-9DD, finished in the scheme of the "Warsaw" fighter regiment circa April 1945 and piloted by one A Matveev.
In all [...]
