Navy vet, California born and raised. Pretty much came back home after my wonderful adventure in the Navy. Now working in the Automotive industry in the IE in So Cal. Enjoying the So Cal lifestyle. Year around modeling, sports, photography and home gardening. My main subject is Naval aviation in 48th scale. But I don't limit myself as WWII subjects of all nations and aircraft that participated in that conflict I will build as well, some armor, a ship here and there and for a change of pace a car. As a kid that is where it all began with the old MPC Monkee Mobile in 1/25 scale. Thats me in a nutshell.

Plan of the Year 2018-Rather Ambitious Really

2017 ended with my most prolific building since my teen years. Days before airbrushes, detail sets and decals. You built what was in the box, very little scratch building and hoped it looked like the one you saw in a Scale Modeler [...]

A year in Review 2017-

This year by far was the most satisfying when it came to actually building and completing projects. Not only getting close to building what I had planned but a few more as well unplanned builds when GB's were announced. Such as the Midway [...]

1/48th Trumpeter Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-23ML Iraqi Air Force January 1991, The Great Escape

It's 5:00 Am in late January, Capt Ahmad Al-Saladi is still contemplating what he and his brothers are about to partake. 2 days prior the Iraqi Air force had launched a rather ambitious attack against coalition ground forces that had [...]

Tamiya 1/48th MiG-15 N. Korean Air Force, Korean War 1952

To say the nifty Tamiya Mig-15 was a joy to build would not say enough how fun it was to build. Though reading that the tail is more MiG-17 than how the -15 should be is the only negative point of the kit that has been brought up on some [...]

Revell 1/35th scale Man 5t Truck, Kosovo Conflict 1998

A change of pace in building something that doesn't have wings. With a few armor and soft skin kits in the stash, this one was quite interesting picking it up at a kit show a few years ago. When it comes to armor I tend to lean towards [...]

Tamiya 1/48th Mitsubishi A6M3 Zero (Hamp) PTO IJN WWII

After coming home from Desert Storm, I had the urge to get back into modeling in the early 90's. And I set off to just stick to building aircraft and equipment that participated in Desert Storm. Then Accurate Miniatures came out with the [...]

Desert Duo, 1/72nd Sepecat Jaguars GR.1,RAF Operation Granby 1991

These desert cats were built over 15 years ago. An inspiration for the "Year of the Cat GB". The first Jag is the Hasegawa kit #E23, this one is the oldest of the pair, being built around 1996 or so. The 2nd one is the Italeri [...]

Captain Richard E. Fleming,USMC, VMSB-241, Accurate Miniatures, Vought SB2U-3 Vindicator

I saved this for last of my builds for Midway. A Marine first and foremost, Capt Fleming was fully aware of the limitations of the Vindicator, facing a far more superior force in the Japanese Navy. Faster planes, ships bristling with [...]

Academy 1/48th Lockheed P-38E Lightning, USAAC,343rd FG,54th FS,Aleutian Island Campaign June 1942

The P-38E with the 54th Fighter Squadron actually appeared a little later in the campaign in the harsh Alaskan environment. Operating out of Elmendorf Field some units detached and forward deployed at Ft Randall. The 54th was the only [...]

Monogram 1/48 Douglas Devastator TBD-1,USN, VT-8. Ens George Gay Midway June 4 1942

(link) Ens George Gay didn't get much sleep the night of June 3rd, knowing what he was about to do in the morning. Reports were coming in from the P-boats (PBY Catalinas) of what has transpired the previous day and during the night. It [...]
