F4U-1D Corsair & Moto Tug.
This is the Tamiya 1/48th F4U-1D Corsair which came with a motor tug.
I used the kit decals, and painted the model with Aeromaster Acrylics.
The base is made of Perspex, which I painted black from below. After engraving the base, I filled in the letters using a yellow chinagraph pencil.

Nice job on that, Julian...the build, the base, the photography and that pilot (very realistic). Those Tamiya Corsairs are sweet, aren't they?
Julian Shawyer said on September 17, 2017
Thank you Craig. I love the Tamiya Corsair. I've made at least four 1/48th scale, and a couple of 1/72 scale Corsairs from Tamiya.

I'm blown away by the base, let alone the brilliant Corsair! Together they are fantastic. Great workmanship - combined with the Tug they take it to another level!

Many thanks Paul. I'm glad you like it.

Julian, beautiful job. Can't go wrong with a Tamiya Corsair. The mototug adds to it, diorama in a box. I think they used the tug into Korea on carriers.
Julian Shawyer said on September 17, 2017
Thank you Bernard. Your right about the Tamiya Corsair. I think the Royal Navy used their deck tractors for over 20 years before replacing them. So I'm sure your correct about the US Navy mototugs.

Nice work on a classic kit, and the base really adds to the overall look.

Thank you George. The Birdcage version was first released in 1996 I believe.

🙂 ... Greetings ... 🙂 :
Very nice work Julian. The lights add a real good touch not seen much.in my personal opinion ( the reason I have two kits of these still not even opened ) is the figure. I just love it when a pilot figure, sitting or standing is included. It adds life and a sense of scale and size.
Good work Julian.
Julian Shawyer said on September 17, 2017
Thank you DE4EVER. The lights are lead tape punched out with a hole punch, polished, then painted with Tamiya clear paint.
