Hawker Hurricane MK.I, No. 303 RAF (Polish) Squadron
Hello everybody,
For my 3rd post in ‘Work in Progress' I chose the Hurricane form Airfix in 1/48th scale. The full review is available on this link:
https://imodeler.com/groups/work-in-progress-aircraft/forum/topic/airfix-1-48-hawker-hurricane-mk-i/
The kit is built OOB with home seat belts and some Tamiya decals since I succeed to destroy some of the Airfix ones.
The aircraft was attached to the 303 Polish Squadron and flown by several pilot. From those the Canadian pilot John Alexander Kent (DFC + Bar).
The Hurricane has been shot down on September 27, 1940 and killing is pilot Sgt Tadeusz Andruszkow.
Hope you enjoy and don't hesitate to give comment.
A great result, Yann!
Love your Polish Hurricane!
Your build thread was a joy to follow, too.
Well done!
Many thanks Spiros @fiveten. I enjoyed too to have your comments. See you soon for a new project ( I was a bit late for the combo of Typhoon, I still have a unopened box and one to be restored...)
Beautiful Hurricane, Yann @yann
It was a pleasure to follow your thread.
Very likely this Airfix Hurricane will be found underneath the Christmas tree, it is still on the wishlist and your built motivates me to start one as well.
Thanks a lot John @johnb. It was a pleasure too to have you following. As I said to Spiros, I was a bit late on the Typhoon Combo, otherwise it would have been a pleasure to join your team.
I've never met a Hawker Hurricane I didn't like . I've had opportunities to build several Hurricane kits from different manufactures and the Airfix kit in 1/48 is good choice. Looking forward to reading and viewing more of your modeling adventures Yann.
Two thumbs up.
Thanks a lot Stephen Thanks a lot Stephen. It was my first Airfix I was really pleased with this kit (btw I bought the Lancaster from Airfix after this build).
Looks great, Yann (@yann). It was a pleasure following your build. I am with Stephen (@stephen-w-towle): I never met a Hurricane I didn't like.
Hello George @gblair, it was my pleasure to have you on this project. I like the plane too even if he is a bit more chubby than his cousin the Spitfire. See you soon for ew projects.
Nice clean build of the iconic BofB hero.
Thank you very much Greg @gkittinger. I was too late for the commemoration BofB, my initial plan was to post it for the commemorative day on the 18th Sept.
Nice job on your Hurricane!
Thanks a lot for your comment Bob @v1pro.
Great looking Hurricane
!Many thanks Robert @roofrat for your kind words.
Beauty. Anything with Canadian attached to it riles me up
Thanks George @blackadder57.
🙂 ... Greetings ... 🙂 :
Nicely done Yann, good clean build.
Thanks a lot for you nice comment DE4EVER @de4ever.
Fantastic! What Paint did you use to undersurfaces?
Many thanks Lis @lis. The undersurfaces has been Airbrushed with Revell 59 without any mix (1st coat was mixed with flat white but was too light). Then 3 coats of Clear and eventually 2 coats of matt varnish.
I’ve always preferred the looks of the Hurricane over the Spitfire and your Airfix model is a good example of why I do, really enjoyed your WIP and the outdoor photographs are great.
Thank you very much George @chinesegeorge. I appreciate having you following the WIP. I don't have any kind of studio home (and I'm far too be a good photographer...) that's why I chose to shoot the model outside when it's a bit sunny (not so often in Belgium for the moment...).
Looks great! I've been wanting to build a Hurricane for a while but personally I'm holding out for Arma Hobby's 1/48 rendition. I tried Airfix's kit but had some issues with it, it was one of my first few models I build which probably explains the trouble but I do find Airfix has interesting quality control sometime.
Just in time for Remembrance Day too.
