Hello friends,
today I have another aircraft for you: It is the nice kit from Eduard.

The kit: "Eduard 84160 F6F-3P weekend edition" The model is almost completely build from the box, I only added seat belts. I had no difficulties during the contruction and the accuracy of fit is very good. Due to the size in the construction was a little more fun than in 1/72. As a template for the profile I have used the F6F-3 from Lt. Arthur Singer. The aircraft belonged to the AG-15 aboard the USS Essex in 1944.

As you can see I've I have used my photography skills again. This part of my hobby is as important as the contriction of the kit itself for me, because I can immerse myself into this tiny world.
I hope you enjoy it and thanks for your interest.

ps. the 2nd Hellcat on one picture is the 1/72 version of this kit:

  16. Andreas - your photos and models are are always a knockout and this Hellcat is no exception. Another beauty!

  17. Another beauty, and expertly photographed. Well done!

  18. I'd like to add my voice to what's been said, a fine Hellcat and beautiful photography...well done.

  19. The first time I've seen figures actually compliment a model. Nice touch with the moving prop. The weathering is is not over done and the aircraft looks like its on operations. The photography and the composition of the figures remind me of some of the photos taken during WWII.

Some strong work Andreas. Something to write home about. If only there was a model of the month.

Two thumbs, smashed the like button.

  20. Really nice Andreas. Great result and the photography is always good.

One small thing: it should be an F6F-3P - Art Singer was the photo plane pilot for AG-15. He didn't let taking photos get in the way of becoming an ace along the way. If you want to make the modification, I think it's still pretty easy even at this finished stage. (And yes, I did "write the book" on Air Group 15 🙂 )

  21. Andreas, @fletcher
I am very impressed with everything you have shown us here in this article. The F6F looks incredibly real, and these photos are incredible. So do the pilots, and the carrier island as a background is like having "icing" on the cake. Well done ! My favorite is the one where the prop is turning. If you could somehow manage to introduce some "blue smoke" it would make one think that they were watching a Pratt and Whitney R2800 firing to life. It looks THAT real !

Your scratch built background setting is perfect for anything US Navy and you could probably get away with it by using this setup for various other countries aircraft carriers.

If we still had the "Model of the Month" contest, this one would surely be a contender.

  22. Thank you very much Gentlemen. Your appreciation motivates me a lot! The next one is already on my workbench...

  23. I agree with @lgardner, great job almost like the real thing!

  24. Hi Andreas. I couldn't agree more with all the earlier comments. A very fine model indeed, enhanced to perfection with your excellent photography. I'd swear that i saw the pilot move!

  25. Haha, thank you Sir!

  26. Andreas - @fletcher - absolutely beautiful work - please give us some tips on your photography - what an incredible addition to this build, your figure painting is also fantastic, I'm blown away.

  27. Yes. Excellent vignette and model and figures. Great photography too. What carrier base did you use for the Hellcat?

  28. Thank you David. I used the Eduard Carrier base in 1/48 (plastic).
