Uganda Mig17 F
This article is part of a series:
Another Smer/ Airifx/ Mister Craft 1:48 finished as a Ugandan Mig17 F. These are old, clunky, cheap but well engineered kits and this is my third one. No filler involved at all. I did replace the arment with turned brass as the pitot tubes ( lances!) on both wings. Only the canopy really needs to be replaced but there aren't too many aftermarket options.
This colour scheme that doesn't look typical for Uganda and is based on photos I found of the aircraft in what looks like a musuem only everything is very delipadated. Decals are a combination of Berna for the bort number and Zotz Roundels of the World for the roundel as the matched better the roundel found on the museum example. There seems to be quiet a bit of variation on these.
Enjoy

Very nice
For a clunky old kit Brian that looks superb. Nice one 😊
Another nicely finished MiG.
Nice work!
That’s an interesting one, Brian! Well done.
Very nice result, Brian!
Love your chosen scheme!
Great result on this clunky kit, Brian @info4
The scheme is indeed very nice.
There is a Squadron vacuform MiG-15/17 canopy. No longer in production but you can find them for a reasonable price on eBay - search "Squadron 1/48 MiG-15 canopy" - the two airplanes used the same one.
Nice work turning a "clunker" into an out-of-the-ordinary model.
Thanks for the tip Tom I hadn't copped that the cockpit for the 15 was identical to the 17. Cheers !
Very nice work Brian @info4!
A wonderful job and a very interesting camouflage scheme which you have captured quite nicely.
