I'm 70s era kid modeler who returned to the hobby after a long layoff thanks to school and varied attempts at making a career. My build approach is systematic but my subject builds vary on whim as I prefer to dabble in almost anything, but I usually build in aviation and SF.

Most of my reviews are at Modeling Madness.

1/72 Anigrand A2D SkyShark

The A2D Sky Shark was originally designed to be a turboprop powered contra rotating propeller equipped reply to the short range and low thrust of early jets based on a requirement for an attack plane able to fly off escort carriers. [...]

1/32 Tamiya T-Rex

I made this one for a friend who is a big dinosaur guy. It took longer than I thought because I'm not a wildlife modeler and dealing with the headaches I had figuring out how to redo the surface detail such as scales and seams around the [...]

My Name Is Bond, James Bond's Subcar

Introduction The Lotus Esprit is one of the most famous luxury sports cars in large part because it was one of the vehicles driven by James Bond. The Esprit was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro for Lotus in 1975 as a compact mid engined [...]

A Wolf In Cat's Wings

INTRODUCTION “There isn't enough thrust in Christendom to fix this plane.” With that sentence, Vice Admiral Thomas Connolly sealed the fate of the F-111B and his Navy career. Out of the ashes of a plane totally unsuited for carrier [...]

Since taking over the Star Wars Model license for Asia from Fine Molds, Bandai has consistently produced easy to build model kits for the Star Wars fanboy/girl. They have several lines including a line of mini kits for those lacking the [...]

Eagle 4 From Space 1999

I profess that awful and/or cheesy British science fiction occupies a special place in my heart, top among them Space 1999. It is a very guilty and stupid pleasure, long considered one of the worst SF TV shows of all time because of its [...]

INTRODUCTION The Kamov Ka-50 Black Shark or known by its NATO moniker “Hokum” is a single seat attack helicopter whose development started in 1984 and was shown to the West in 1989, but thanks to the collapse of the Soviet Union and [...]

Yellow Nose Airfix Spitfire 1/48

This is a kit I built a couple of years back. It is the 2015 release (2nd pressing) of the 1/48 Airfix Spitfire Mk I. It is mostly OOB with the exception of some Eduard RAF early style harnesses. I learned the hard way that unless the [...]

Matchbox B-17G: Fools Rush In Where Wise Men Fear To Tread

The B-17 Flying Fortress is one of the iconic aircraft of World War 2 and easily one of the most recognizable bomber type in the world (although fans of the Lancaster might have something to say about that.) When it first flew in combat [...]

The Night King Cometh

In honor of the start of the 8th (and final) Season of Game of Thrones, here is my completed attempt of ICM's 1/16 scale Night King (or King of The Night as it listed on the box.) Let me get this off the first, I am not a figure modeler [...]
