I have been building models for 47 of the last 53 years, and I build everything. Literally. I currently reside in New Westminster, BC, Canada, which is a suburb of Vancouver, and am an active member of IPMS Vancouver. I am a mostly OOB builder, but on occasion will venture into the murky realms of AMS. I am trending lately into sci-fi and fantasy, with a lot of time spent working on vinyl monsters and large figures from gaming systems, specifically dragons. I feel that there is a sad lack of dragons in this world. I am still building the usual stuff, but not two or three or more of the same thing. Just one, maybe two, and strictly OOB for in club build contests.
When this movie came out in 1982, I just had to have a model of the Firefox. Now, thanks to Anigrand and Rare-Plane Detective's booth at the Colorado Nats, I finally have one. The kit is fairly simple, consisting of appx. 26 parts, including a[...]
All resin Martin "Philippine Mars" completed. Floquil Railroad Colours Signal Red, Tamiya Spray Bomb Fine White Primer, and Tamiya Semi-Gloss Black. Exhaust staining is done with the Tamiya Weathering System. Kit is 16 1/2" wide, 10 1/2" long[...]
This has been an ongoing project since May of this year. It has involved two complete paint jobs, a lot of sanding and at least 9 brass pins. I have just finished the Alclad II Laquer gloss coat and am finally ready to apply the few decals. T[...]
This is a ten day wonder. It is the Airfix 1/48 scale kit, and took me about 14 hours total over 10 days. The personal markings are home made as is the aircraft ID. Under the tail is my brother-in-laws birthday as the civilian ID number, and [...]
No real reason why I built this kit. I build very few whirly-birds, but this one just appealed to me. It is kinda cute. All of the high-vis is Testors Flourescent Red, out of the little square bottle we all know and love. Other than the red,[...]
This is one of the few armor kits I have built. All of my armor is OOB, due to it being built for an in club build contest, which follows the IPMS Out Of Box rules. I chose to build this kit because I have always liked the "modern" look of the[...]
Every now and then I like to unwind with bit of fun, and these little kits really fit the bill. I strip the chrome so I can clean up the seam lines, then replace it with Alclad. The body is Spaz Stix Flourescent Blue from a spary bomb. The en[...]
I’m gonna call this one done, before I fiddle with it some more and maybe cause a disaster. I was nearly ready to be completed last week, but then AMS set in and I decided I had to add most of the tiny little antennae that are festooned all ove[...]
So what do you do when you get two really cool sets of markings and only one model? Split the schemes!! Blue side is 1963, and the black side is 1961. I painted the tricolour lower wing, but all the other markings are from the kit decal set. [...]
This was my first venture into 1/144 and flying boats. I added all of the cross wire bracing and the four antennaes. Box decals are used and the white and blue striping is paint. Stand came with the kit. Great kit, and fairly easy to build.
