I have been building models for 47 of the last 53 years, and I build everything. Literally. I currently reside in New Westminster, BC, Canada, which is a suburb of Vancouver, and am an active member of IPMS Vancouver. I am a mostly OOB builder, but on occasion will venture into the murky realms of AMS. I am trending lately into sci-fi and fantasy, with a lot of time spent working on vinyl monsters and large figures from gaming systems, specifically dragons. I feel that there is a sad lack of dragons in this world. I am still building the usual stuff, but not two or three or more of the same thing. Just one, maybe two, and strictly OOB for in club build contests.
This idea hatched in August, 2011 when my sister expressed her love for the Mustang! "It's shiny and sounds so cool"! Little light bulb in my head went "Ping!" and this was the result. It is my first time playing [...]
Okay kiddies. How's this for a nightmare inducer. I had more fun painting this darn thing. I had to do a little surgery to it to make it PG13 rated, but that's not really a big "Thing".
This huge lump of resin is over 22 [...]
This was my very first foray into serious AMS. I hand drilled over 400 #80 holes into this ship. Most of those were for the totally scratch built railings. Every stanchion is cut from thin wire and inserted into a hole drilled into the [...]
This kit was a total hoot to build. No interior to worry about, just slap it together, and then have fun with the painting and detailing. I added the bracing wires for the wing floats, the two radio antenneas and the totally scratch [...]
One of my few ventures into automotive modeling, I won this kit at a club raffle, and just had to build it. I built it box stock, only painting the stripes instead of trying to use the battleship armor they give you for decals. The [...]
This is Tamiya's 1/48 F4U-1A with all of the control surfaces deflected, including trim tabs, the flaps raised, and the gear retracted. I added a Monogram pilot figure with his head turned and looking up. The drop tank has just been [...]
I have considered this to be the most fun I have ever had building a model. No fiddley photo-etch, except the three or pieces that came with the kit, just open the box and go to town. The only real extra work I did on this kit was to [...]
This was one of my first forays into AMS and kit bashing. I started with a Special Hobbies 1/48 F2G Racer, and added the wings from an Academy 1/48 F4U-1A, because I wanted the flaps down, and I wasn't about to chop up a Tamiya kit. I do [...]
