iModeler Aviation

Building, painting and finishing scale aircraft models.

Korean War F-94B

1/48 Hobbycraft kit finished with SNJ spray metal and Experts Choice decals. To my knowledge, this kit was only released once in the late '80s. I finally built this example in 2009.

Convair NB-100A “Obliterater” ——– What If ——-

After the cancellation of the XB-70 project in 1957, General LeMay reopened the nuclear powered manned bomber program using the Convair XAB-1 strike/reconnaissance prototype which the CIA had been pursuing with "black funds." [...]

Tamiya F4F Wildcat

I've built about 40-45 1/48 model aircraft over the last 25 years (yes, I am the world's slowest builder, lol) but this Wildcat was my first Tamiya kit. I finished it last year and I have to say that all I had heard about its ease of [...]

Imperial Defender – Nichimo Ki45Kai Toryu “Nick”

This is the older Nichimo kit, built largely OOB with Aeromaster decals (Imperial Defenders) I chose the allover Army green machine over the more conventional Grey and green blotch as it gives the aircraft a very different look. The [...]

1/32 Trumpeter F4F-4 Wildcat

Mostly OOB, I added the fuel tank under the cockpit floor. You can't really see it unless you look through the windows on the lower fuselage, but I know it is there...lol. Paint is Mr. Color, and floquil. Decals by superscale. Thanks, Rob

Ki-84

Here is another old build, this time a 1/32 Hasegawa Ki-84.

Not Yet a Thunderjet: Heller 1/72 XP-84 Conversion

The old 70s-vintage Heller F-84G Thunderjet in 1/72 was converted to represent the prototype XP-84 by cutting the wingtip tanks off and making new tips with styrene sheet, removing the canopy framing and smoothing out/polishing the canopy, [...]

Special Hobby 1/48 Fiat G.55 “Sottoserie 0″

This kit I did about four or five years back, when it was first released. As a big fan of Italian planes, it is interesting to compare the G.55 to the Macchi C.202 and C.205. The G.55 went into service in 1943, right before the Italian [...]

A Trio of Hasegawa Macchis

Hasegawa's 1/48 scale Macchi C.202 and C.205 kits are probably the best 1/48 kits of any WWII Italian aircraft to date. Accurate, well-detailed and well fitting, there are many different decal options available for this series of kits. I [...]

Italeri 1/48 Macchi C.200 Saetta

Italeri's 1/48 Macchi 200 Saetta (serie VII) is a welcome release. Previously, there was the old Artiplast (later SMER) kit in 1/50, and Czech short-run derivatives such as Pacific Coast Models (which is also good, but resin and PE [...]
