Dragon 1/48 Ju 88G-6

At some stage during the entry to service of the Ju 88G series the Germans thought that it would be advantageous to hide the development of new aircraft types with a silhouetted camouflage depicting the C version tail. The effectiveness of [...]

1/72 Macchi C.200, Hobby Boss 80291

I learned a few things building this Macchi C.200 from Hobby Boss (#80291). First thing as the name, Saetta translates to Lightning. Another was the initial C. stood for Castoldi to emphasize recognition of the Macchi company chief [...]

Review: MAGIC FACTORY 1/48 Douglas A-4M Skyhawk

Having built a number of A-4's over the years in 72nd and 48th scale. Those kits, Fujimi, Monogram, Hobbycraft and Hasegawa pretty much had the same philosophy of assembly with some minor differences, for example the Hobbycraft kit nose [...]

Meng 1/48 EA-18G Growler

Meng's Growler is a very good kit with nicely engraved panel lines and a good fit of parts. The only criticism I have for the kit is the somewhat crude design of cockpit and related decals. In other words, the canopy is better kept closed.

LTJG Jack “Dusty” Kleiss was a Douglas SBD Dauntless dive bomber pilot with Scouting Six flying from the USS Enterprise (CV-6). His first combat was during the raid on Kwajalein Atoll where he hit Japanese shore installations and [...]

Silver Wings resin 1/32 Fiat CR-32

So I always thought the Fiat CR-32 was a good-looking aero plane. Pointy nose, scalloped wings/tail, cool spatted wheels. For some reason I never got round to doing one, most likely due to the limited run nature of the available 1/48 kits. [...]

1/700 Mikuma & Asashio @ Midaway 1942

This is an older one I did about 15 years ago. 1/700 Tamiya Mikuma & 1/700 Pit-Road Asashio with some etched brass to jazz them up. A battle scene of what the fate of the Mikuma was... Always like waterline displays for my ships. [...]

Things tell stories: Miniarts amazing “Field Workshop” in scale 1:48!

‘I was wondering whether anyone would actually buy it’ was the comment I got from my trusted modelling dealer about my spontaneous decision to buy. He went on to explain that adding Miniart's ‘Field Workshop’ to the assortment [...]

Falcon 1/48 Messerschmitt Bf 109G-12

About one hundred 109G aircraft were converted to a two seat version during 1944 for training purposes. Falcon produced a basic (and only) 1/48 styrene Bf 109G-12 version. It is based on the G-4 airframe. I used spare parts from Hasegawa [...]
