Navy vet, California born and raised. Pretty much came back home after my wonderful adventure in the Navy. Now working in the Automotive industry in the IE in So Cal. Enjoying the So Cal lifestyle. Year around modeling, sports, photography and home gardening. My main subject is Naval aviation in 48th scale. But I don't limit myself as WWII subjects of all nations and aircraft that participated in that conflict I will build as well, some armor, a ship here and there and for a change of pace a car. As a kid that is where it all began with the old MPC Monkee Mobile in 1/25 scale. Thats me in a nutshell.
It's late December 1990, Lt Cdr Jack Morris and Lt Diego Juarez have been patrolling the Persian Gulf for the last 3 weeks. Activity has increased recently as the Brits farther North have encountered several suspected blockade runners [...]
As a former "rotor head" in the US Navy, I had been accumulating a few Navy helo kits to the stash. Back in the early 90's there were plenty of Blackhawks but not much in the Seahawk variants until Hasegawa produced this kit in [...]
If anyone should be in So California on the first weekend of May. Come on down to Chino, California, about an hour east of Los Angeles, in the Inland Empire. WWII B-25's, P-38's B-17's, P-47, Tigercats, Mustangs, the N9MB Flying wing [...]
It's early morning on a cool November day in 1942. The Allies have commenced "Operation Torch" with the invasion of N. Africa. 4 Dewoitine D.520's of Escadrille 2AC lift off from the Axis base of Port-Lyautey, mission to [...]
It's mid July 1950, it has been about a month since the war started when the N. Koreans crossed the 38th parallel invading S. Korea. Cpt James Kerley stands next to his F-51 ready to fly his first mission. One of 145 Mustangs rushed to [...]
2017 ended with my most prolific building since my teen years. Days before airbrushes, detail sets and decals. You built what was in the box, very little scratch building and hoped it looked like the one you saw in a Scale Modeler [...]
This year by far was the most satisfying when it came to actually building and completing projects. Not only getting close to building what I had planned but a few more as well unplanned builds when GB's were announced. Such as the Midway [...]
It's 5:00 Am in late January, Capt Ahmad Al-Saladi is still contemplating what he and his brothers are about to partake. 2 days prior the Iraqi Air force had launched a rather ambitious attack against coalition ground forces that had [...]
To say the nifty Tamiya Mig-15 was a joy to build would not say enough how fun it was to build. Though reading that the tail is more MiG-17 than how the -15 should be is the only negative point of the kit that has been brought up on some [...]
A change of pace in building something that doesn't have wings. With a few armor and soft skin kits in the stash, this one was quite interesting picking it up at a kit show a few years ago. When it comes to armor I tend to lean towards [...]
