Announcing iModeler October Awards
All the work and excitement of Scale Modelworld made us more than a bit late with the announcement of the October iModeler Awards. I’ll blame it on the fact that more than half of our judging team was kept busy in Telford! Now let’s have a look at some of the notable postings of last month. October brought a total of 88 new headline articles and 1517 comments. An average of over 17 comments per article is something of a new record even for this community :)!
As per our tradition, we are awarding the Best in Show title to the entry that wins this month’s prize, but also list runner-ups as Honorable Mentions. We think that all are great modeling accomplishments that deserve recognition. The jury of the month were @editor, @aisak, @magnusf, @halvarvonflake and @rickard-malmborg.
Every month, all Headline contributions are included in our traditional honorary prize draw. We’re looking for the entries that represent the month’s highlight in terms of modeling quality and presentation. We also allot an award to a randomly chosen article to emphasize that all contributions to this site deserve recognition. Join iModeler and post an article to take part in our next monthly roundup.
iModeler Best in Show – October 2016
October was a really good month that brought many excellent models to iModeler. Considering this it may be perhaps surprising that the jury’s choice was unanimous: Bernard Wylie @bern and his Revell 1/144 USS Fletcher DD445 wins our vote as this month’s Best in Show. We liked just about everything about this model: its overall look, the finesse, the rigging, the weathering which goes all the way down to the buckled hull plates, the presentation. Detail work is excellent and no doubt this has been a fairly big modelling undertaking. We’re sure that Bernard has put in a lot of work and love into this but managed to keep a consistently high level of execution in all parts of the project.
But wait, there is more! – the Random Award
We are also awarding a prize as a token of appreciation to all our contributors. This is selected through an entirely random draw among all the entries of the month. This time, our lucky winner is Louis Gradner @lgardner and his 1/48 Hobby Boss F4F-3 Grumman early Wildcat. Louis currently has about 600 kits ( of which about 1/4 are built) in his posession and we hope to see more of them soon, thanks for sharing!
