Accurate Miniatures 1/48 P-51B
My latest is the Academy reboxing of AM’s P-51B, and represents” Missouri Mauler” flown my Captain Willard Milllikan of the 336th Fighter Squadron, 4th Fighter Group. He was involved in a mid-air collision with a wing mate while on a strafing run in 1944 and would spend the rest of the war as a POW. However, he would stay in the service and would reach the rank of Major General before retiring.
Much as been written about the AM series of P-51’s, so no kit comments are necessary. I’ve always enjoyed building them and with the exception of rather thick canopy glass they are fun to build. Only additions added to this P-51B were an Ultracast seat and some exhause stacks. The rest is OOB except the whip antenna made from the spares box.
The NMF is Model Car World Bare Metal covered with Testors Dullcoat from a rattle can. Other paints are a mix of Model Master and Tamiya acrylics. The decals are from Superscale 48-591, P-51B Mustang Aces. The race to deplete my stash continues, as if that will happen any time soon.
