Building models since age 7 (except for a short respite in my military years). Enjoying it now more than ever. I build across the spectrum but am biased towards towards historical miniatures and military vehicles.
SilverCon 2019 was held in Sacramento California last weekend. Another great contest with high quality entries and great vendors.
Also, I picked up a 1st place in small scale armor with my 1/72 M1A2 Abrams SEP TUSK II by Tiger Models and [...]
To deal with a tendency to take so long on projects that their inspiration date expiration dates, I set a goal to complete 12 projects in 2018. Even though a couple were in progress at the beginning of the year, it took some careful [...]
First ship model since a U Boat a few years back. This kit has good detail but with a number of fiddly parts like the handrails, propellers, and propeller guards at the tail end. This hull of the kit can be assembled full or waterline. [...]
Andrea produces great figures. The detail is awesome but lead to assembly and painting challenges in this case. Definitely not a kit for first time figure painters. I painted the gunner with a mix of oils for the snow suit and acrylics [...]
Another nice and tidy Tamiya '48 kit of a plain vanilla Abrams. So, this was a nice no- frills project. The only finicky issue I had was with the length and link tracks that were slightly too generous. Painting the tracks also was more [...]
The menacing looking paper panzer really caught my eye. Model Collect covers a lot of unique subjects and this is no exception. Basically its a good little kit, but the road wheel, suspension and track assemblies are very fiddly. Not [...]
The complexity of the armor and roof-top weaponry attracted me to this kit. The fact that so much detail was packed into a 72 scale kit was also an attractive challenge. The kit has some creative engineering that minimizes the parts [...]
I finally finished up a kit that I've had in process for a while. It's a nice classic Tamiya kit I dressed up with some Eduard PE and storage on the rear deck. I had a lot of fun adding the adding wear and tear and chipping on this one. [...]
Another great little Airfix kit. I added Eduard PE to detail the cockpit and used Mission Models paints. It is good kit, but one tricky point is the filler needed to blend in the joins between the wings and engine nacelles.
A great kit and a great brute of a tank. I love Meng kits and this is another great example. Plenty of detail and plenty of parts. Such as 3 snap-together parts per track shoe. But the resulting working tracks are fantastic.
