Baby boomer trying his hand at building models again for the first time. Things have certainly changed since I was 16. Tube cement, small testors bottles of paint and some decals, what more was needed? Started building again in 2009 and have begun learning some new skills and techniques ever since. Have lots of appreciation for those that do excellent work with this hobby, some of the results are truely museum quality. Hope to pass on a love for this hobby to my grandson.
Big hats off to David Thomas for initiating this GB concerning a significant battle in North America at Kasserine Pass. Determined to be a military defeat for the US Army it would prove to a learning lesson from which ultimate victory [...]
I want to thank Louis Gardner for starting this group build and inviting me to come along with my cat entry. Since I was a little late to the party I picked a kit that I thought would be simple and fast. So presented for your view today is [...]
Just a little nudge for someone building an awesome 1/32 P-400 on iModeler. Completed this kit probably 7 years ago after deciding to build models again. Boy have I learned a lot since then. This was my first attempt at a como scheme and [...]
My last post of 2017, and yes it's another of Tom's P-40's from his on going collection. This is the first Hasegawa P-40 I've completed and it's really a sweet little kit. Went together very well, and no putty or filler was used. I did add [...]
Finished this kit couple of months ago and don't know why I hadn't posted it. Spent some time looking for a P-40M kit, Mauve is belly up, and the Eduard and Hasegawa versions seem to be out of production right now. Pretty sure both Eduard [...]
My third in a series of aircraft flown by the Tuskegee airman. This one depicts a P-47D flown by 2Lt Hathcock with the 301st Fighter Squadron in Ramitelli, Italy. Build pretty much out of the box, but I did include a Ultracast seat and [...]
I'm been wanting to do the various planes flown by the Tuskegee Airman and this is the second one I've completed. The first was a P-40L "Ace of Pearls" which I posted here several years ago. Like most Tuskegee aircraft this one [...]
The Cincinnati Scale Modelers Club, a US IPMS Club, held their 2017 Annual Contest and Swap Meet in Cincinnati today. There were 365 entries from 73 modeler on display. Here are some of the contestants works that caught my eye. And the [...]
In my stash were some P-39 decals depicting an Airacobra flown by a 2Lt Bill Fiedler, who had the distinction of being the only American Ace to claim all 5 victories flying the P-39. Being a history buff I was curious as to what happened [...]
An old blast from the past, did this kit about 7 years ago, and it was and my first attempt at mottling. Have a great appreciation for those that get it right, I need to practice some more before attempting another one Not a bad little [...]
