This build has been posted in the “Work in progress – Aircraft” group, and to see the entire build you may want to check it out there. In 1942, Hans-Joachim Marseille went to Rome for some RandR, returning to Egypt on 24th of August. Upon arrival he was given a new F-4 with his usual number “Yellow 14”. Now that date – albeit some years later – also happens to be the birthday of my “better half”, so what better plane to build than the one he started flying on that date? (OK - there are quite a bit of years between, but anyway)
The plane is a Bf109 F-4 with Werk Nummer 8673, and it was the last "Friedrich" that he flew, the next one he used being a G-2. That plane also killed him after an enginefire, and he went into history undefeated in combat.
Now, just a few pictures from the build, but check the topic over at "Work in Progress – Aircraft" (sorry - could not get the link to work. . .)
Hope you like the build – as I said, there are a lot more over at the group if you wish to get deeper into the build.
Thanx for watching

Very nicely done. I love the kit and I've enjoyed watching your build. I am in the middle of my build of this iconic plane at this time. More to follow...

Erik, it will be a few weeks. I’m in the middle of detailing. It never seems to end, hahaha.

Beautiful work and a Fantastic build ! I acquired a French language magazine at the Paris airport last spring (Aerojournal)
It had a very long article on Marseille and the other German air aces that fought in North Afrika. All heroes for a bad cause...I had no idea that the air war over there was so intense.

Funny, just yesterday I read a comic involving exactly the same 109, with Marseille on the controls... A job well done!

Great work, Erik. This has been a great journey on this build. It is always great to see a desert scheme rather than the usual mottle.

Remarkable detailing. The plain sandgelb F always my favourite 109.
