Hasegawa 1/48 P-51D Mustang
In one of my earlier posts I'd mentioned I had build several Accurate Miniatures, Eduard, Airfix, Monogram/Revell, and Tamiya P-51's but not a Hasegawa kit. That is until now and it is a decent kit IMHO. The cockpit is adequate but not overly detailed as the latest versions from Airfix and Eduard, but nice nonetheless. The wheel well area seems to be a little shallow but I don't display my finished models upside down, so what the hey.
I build this little friend OOB using Tamiya Sea Gray and RAF Dark Green per the decal information. The decals are from Bulleye 48-010, Yoxford Boys # 2. They performed really well and I highly recommend them. They have a series of Yoxford Boys P-51 decals which includes P-51D-5's and P-51B's. Apparently only sold thru Sprue Brothers. Was able to pick off a Silver Award in the OOB all scales and categories at the recent Columbus, Ohio show. And to let all know I don't just build P-40's here's a sample of the 19 P-51's I've built to date. From back to front is an AM P-51A, a Tamiya P-51B, the Hasegawa P-51D, an the Eduard P-51D-5.
Have some fun and build something before the good weather arrives where we all want to be outside.

Nice looking Mustangs , Tom @tom-bebout ! I’ve got Hasegawa B & D Mustangs that I hope to get built sometime soon. Yours are all excellent looking.
Very nice Hase D. About the only thing I didn't like about it was how Hasegawa did the prop attachment... spoiled by Tam's polycaps, I guess.

Nice one, Tom! I remember guys saying “Do we really need another P-51D ?” when the Tamiya kit came out because that Hasegawa kit was still pretty new and presumed definitive. It’s still a nice model almost 40 years later.
