I have been building plastic models for most of my life Started out as a kid, got sidetracked by girls, marriage and kids, (But I never stopped building though...) then got back into it in the early 80's...

I really got serious about HOW I build after reading a Kalmbach book titled, "How to Build Scale Models" by Roscoe Creed. It's written in plain English, and it's written to someone who really had no idea how to make, "those seams go away." From there the rest is history.

Mostly I build aircraft, but I have started to dabble with some armor and ships. we'll see how that turns out!

I've met many great folks while enjoying this hobby and hopefully will meet a few more from this website. I LOVE the low key approach, and the complete lack of whining that can be seen on other sites.

Thanks for having me aboard!

Tamiya, 1:48 scale, Heinkel He-162A-2, "Salamander"

Calling THIS one done! This early jet had the distinction of killing more German pilots than those of the enemy. A really nice little kit that was a lot of fun, and builds well. I know, some of you may be thinking, "What? A [...]

Nichimo, 1:48 scale Nakajima Ki-43-Ic, "Hayabusa", (Peragrine Falcon) Allied Reporting Name: 'Oscar'

Kit is built mostly Out Of Box except for the True Details weighted tires. EZ line was used for the aerial and paper strips for seat harness. Paint is a combination of Tamiya acrylic for upper surfaces, over Alclad II for the lower. [...]

Accurate Miniatures, 1:48 Scale, North American P-51C, "Mustang"

Pulling this one from the "Way Back Machine" for "Throw Back Thursday". Sans Tennessee Tuxedo and Chumley, of course... Anyway, I was in my 'Laboratory' organizing storage when I happened to see this old kit and [...]

Monogram, 1:72 Scale, Curtiss P-6E "Hawk"

This is one of those things that just happen, and as events would have it, this kit and a number of other small bi-plane fighters from Monogram, fell into my lap. I managed to get this little beauty, a F-11C, a F4B-4 and a P-36-all in [...]

Tamiya 1:48 scale, Nakajima J1N1-S, Model 11, "Gekko" (Irving)

This is one of these kits that, I've seen friends build, and always felt I wanted to build. Such an elegantly designed aircraft and one that can be thought of as both beautiful and deadly. This particular kit is the earlier model, with a [...]

1:48 Scale, Eduard, Grumman F4F-3 "Wildcat"

Calling this one DONE! Also the second for the year, Eduard's AWESOME F4F-3 "Wildcat". Fantastic kit, loved the build and will start another one shortly. IMHO, I think this is the best kit of the F4F in any scale, hands down. [...]

Trumpeter 1:32 Scale, Douglass SBD-5 "Dauntless"

First one for 2023... Actually, I started this kit back in 2018, 2019, I think? Sat on the shelf for a bit while I moved onto other things. Trumpeter has this reputation of either making really nice kits, or some real dogs. This one [...]

The Class of 2022.

During all of 2021, I did not complete one model. Not one. Was a disappointing year as far as model building was concerned. My usual output each year, a modest four or five complete builds, with a couple started, maybe one sent to the [...]

Hasegawa, 1:48 Scale P-400, "Airacobra"

This is the Hasegawa 1:48 scale P-400. Nice kit. Goes together very well, has really nice detail inside and out. Even the doors fit without too much tweaking. A friend of mine, Nick Buro, was a crew chief on these birds. He was asked [...]

Tamiya 1:48 Scale, DeHavilland Mosquito Mk.VI.FB

FINALLY, calling this one as Fini! Tamiya, 1:48 scale, DeHavilland Mosquito FB.Mk.VI TH-H, “Lady Luck” on door. 418 Squadron, Royal Canadian Air Force, based at Helmsley South, England, April 1944. Pilot: F/L John Phillips, DFC Nav. [...]
