I have been building plastic models for most of my life Started out as a kid, got sidetracked by girls, marriage and kids, (But I never stopped building though...) then got back into it in the early 80's...

I really got serious about HOW I build after reading a Kalmbach book titled, "How to Build Scale Models" by Roscoe Creed. It's written in plain English, and it's written to someone who really had no idea how to make, "those seams go away." From there the rest is history.

Mostly I build aircraft, but I have started to dabble with some armor and ships. we'll see how that turns out!

I've met many great folks while enjoying this hobby and hopefully will meet a few more from this website. I LOVE the low key approach, and the complete lack of whining that can be seen on other sites.

Thanks for having me aboard!

Tamiya 1:48 Scale, Ki.61-I

Probably one of the best models I've ever built. Tamiya has really upped the game with this kit, with the engineering being amazing. Very little putty is required, and the kit falls together. The only complaint I can point at, are the [...]

Hobby Boss 1:48 Scale, F4F-3 (Early) “Wildcat”

Hey Folks, It's been awhile since I last posted, but I have been busy building a lot. It's been a regular, "Fighter-Pa-Loozah" here on the Island and I have managed to finish a couple kits, This HB kit is not a bad model. In [...]

Trumpeter 1:48 Scale, Vickers ‘Wellington’ Mk.1c

Finally calling this one done. Great model, lots of fun to build, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I got the kit at a show up in Poughkeepsie, NY, off a table set up by the sponsoring clubs members. Wasn't to familiar with the 'Wellington', [...]

1:48 Scale, Hobby Boss, F4F-3, “Yellow Wing”

While I’m waiting on “Wimpy” to dry, I started another project, and one I’ve always wanted to tackle. A US Navy, “Yellow Wing”. I just think they are some of the most colorful aircraft that ever flew. I’m using Hobby [...]

1:48 Scale, Airfix P-40B, “Tomahawk”

Terrific model, excellent build, and one I would recommend absolutely. I used Tamiya acrylics, which is something I have not done in over twenty years. I also used Star Fighter Decals, which I am pleased to report, worked flawlessly. [...]

1:48 Scale, Airfix, Boulton-Paul Defiant

This is another one of Airfix's "New Tool" kits. It is a good kit, that also builds well, and it's a subject that is not often seen. I found it enjoyable, and would also recommend it to anyone. Trumpeter also produces a [...]

1:48 Scale, Airfix Hawker Hurricane Mk.I “Trop”

My second Airfix Hurricane, and I tried a few new things during the build. Firstly, the kit is a winner, no matter which version you attempt to build. As a matter of fact, parts to build multiple versions, come in most kit. You have [...]

1:48 Scale, ICM kit of Dornier’s Do-17Z-2, “Flying Pencil”

Up until recently, the only kit of the Do-17 in this scale, was the old Hobby Craft kit, which really was not a good representation of this famous German bomber. Then came Classic Airframes, which although MUCH better, was a really tough [...]

1:48 Scale Hasegawa, Mitsubishi A6M3, Model 32, Type 0, Navy Fighter, (Hamp)

This is Hasegawa's 1:48 scale kit of one of the variant's of Mitsubishi's famous fighter aircraft. Because of the squared off wing tips, allied pilots thought they were facing a new Japanese fighter, and gave her a different recognition [...]

2017, a look in the rear view mirror...

Hello fellow plastic-hedz! Merry Christmas to everyone! 2017 has been a better year than I thought it was going to be. Six completions, and one at about 95%. I hope to have her done too, bringing the total up to seven. However, [...]
