Airfix scale model kits

Score!!

Found these two on the web, at a reasonable price. I have noticed of late that prices have gotten way out of hand. I bagged these with shipping for around 20 dollars US each. Some listings , for the TBD goes for three times as much or more.

1/72 Airfix Supermarine Spitfire Mk. 1a

1/72 Airfix Supermarine Spitfire Mk. 1a. (2010) Built entirely out of the box. Tamiya tape Sutton harness. Paints were a combination of Mr. Color, Mr. Hobby, Tamiya and Alclad II. UVDR aerial wire. This is a really great kit without [...]

Airfix 1/48 P-40 – Luke Army Air Field

I had heard great things about this kit, and I was looking for something a little different to do with it. When you search for P-40s on the internet, one of the first photos that comes up is a P-40CU that was used as a trainer at the [...]

Typhoon! Petty and ill informed critique.

‘Take off’, Focke Wulf FW 190 F-8, Airfix 1/72

This model was done prior to the Macchi MC202, between April and May of 2020. It was the first time that I started to experiment with some serious free hand camo, in general all the airbrushing done on this one was in freehand, due to the [...]

Boulton Paul Defiant NF.I

This model represents a Defiant NF.I of No. 264 Sqn. flown by Sqn. Ldr. Philip Saunders, amongst others, between December 1940 and February 1941. I picked this scheme for the unusual fuselage roundel. Mid war theory held that wars would [...]

Airfix 1/72 A-4P Skyhawk, Argentina

This is my entry into the Falkland's War group build - the new-tool Airfix A-4. Built OOB except for the replacement of the spine aerial and the addition of fin loop aerials to convert from a B to a P, and the addition of a TER to handle [...]

Unloved and Unwanted

Everybody remembers the 1/48th scale Airfix Bf109E, right? It was one of the earlier products of the New and Improved Airfix and was a greatly anticipated kit prior to its release, but its welcome was fated to be short-lived. The kit was [...]
