A Guilty Pleasure: Airfix's 1/72 Spitfire Mk.1a Starter Set

To keep with the theme of things Airfix this is a recent out of box build of their Spitfire Mk1a starter set: Purchased for the princely sum of $10 a year or so ago from my local Aldi Supermarket in the Northern Suburbs of Brisbane, this [...]

Airfix 1/48 Boulton-Paul Defiant.

Built as a NF Mk.II, AA404/VA-P, Nº 125 Squadron, Colterne 1942. All the parts for this version are included in the box but not mentioned in the instructions, Montex Masks were used for the insignia.

1/72 Bristol Blenheim Mk.I

This is the recent Airfix kit. I built it straight from the box and finished it with Humbrol enamels. I did use an Eduard masking set to help deal withe many small canopy panes. They really are tiny in 1/72! This kit is very well [...]

The new airfix Ju87 Stuka

This is the second build for airfix Model World Magazine, the new 1:48 Airfix Ju87 Stuka. Another stunningly good kit, this has some great features, dropped flaps, angled elevators and a brilliantly detailed engine is provided if the [...]

So while I was building the Ju88 featured a few days ago, I was working on two new builds for Airfix Model World Magazine. These are both featured in the new December issue on sale now. The first of these is the B-17G. This is a superb [...]

1/48 Airfix Buccaneer "Sea Witch Debbie"

Not a fall together kit, but with experience should pose no problems building. Definitely need a new tooled Brick! As our British cousins say "the only thing going lower than the Bucc is a submarine!"

Avro 504 K, A3-53, Central Flying School RAAF Point Cook Vic 1922.

1/72 Airfix, my only completed biplane so far, I modified a few things and added some rigging, finished in Tamiya, Humbrol and MM enamels with Aussie and Red Roo decals.

Failed Concept…BP Defiant Airfix 1/48

It seemed like a good idea at the time. An interceptor fighter with all it's armament concentrated in a rear-mounted turret, whereby the pilot could concentrate on the maneuvering and the gunner on gunning. The Brits were always concerned [...]
