I have been building models since I was six. I stopped for a period of time while in the USMC and then when I got married. I have been married for 55 years and have two grown daughters with their own families. I returned to modeling in 1968 and had as my mentor, Stan Staples. I am retired from the CHP and enjoy my time modeling and spending time with my family.

The little Woodie from H#@%*

This is a study of what not to ever do and I did it. I almost took a trip to the GG Bridge, not for me, but to thrown this POS over the side and into the Bay. I got a call to build a model of a 1929 Ford woodie. It is an AMT 1/24th scale kit. [...]

B-26B “I****s Delight” 575th BS / 391st BG

This aircraft is reputed to be the “scruffiest” Marauder of them all and had there been a contest for the worst one it would have won. I have shown wear on this model but it is nothing compared to photos of the real airplane. I used Aero Master [...]

FJ-3M Fury of VF-124

This is the ESCI 1/48 kit dated 1983, of the FJ-2/3 Fury. Up to the point of the release of the Collect-Aire Models, kit in 1997 this was the only game in town for a Fury in 1/48. Still today I know of no other kit in 1/48 of this airplane and n[...]

MACH 2 1/72 Vickers Viscount

The person that I built This for is a close friend of the owner of MACH 2 and has asked me to build quite a few of this companies kits. I compliment MACH 2 for the fact that they have introduced quite a number of very interesting subjects. Tha[...]

P-51D 55th FG, 343FS Flown by Capt. Robert E. Welsh (6 victories)

This is a Monogram 1/48 P-51 that I built in 1976. This is just one of many Monogram Mustangs that I have built over the years. All things considered the Monogram kit is still one of the best for overall outline and quality and was superior for [...]

Seversky S2 Racer, Flown by Frank Fuller, 1939 Bendix Race

First, let me say that this is a classic example for the motto of my Club "I Know Where the Mistakes Are and I'm Not Going to Tell You Where They Are" second, this is the very old Hobbycraft 1/48 kit of the Seversky S2 Racer (P-35) which is, to [...]
