Vintage Revell M-35 – 1/40 scale

I had purchased this Revell M-35 MIlitaty Truck 1/40 scale kit probably before 1980, and first built in 1996. This kit was injected in 1969 in Brazil by A. Kikoler company, but first produced in 1958 in USA. The model had the rubber tires [...]

Gee Bee GA (Ground Attack)

So.. Found this horrible Lindberg kit at a discount store. I have long been fascinated by the GeeBee, and this kit was like candy to me. Could NOT resist. I imagined it would be amusing to build this kit in a dystopian sort of Mad Max [...]

1/25th Revell "Kurtis Midget Racer"

Double WOW! I found this model on the web and bought it flat out. Why would I do that? Let's back up to 1947 as this is the answer. My cousin "Jim" came home from the Navy in late 1945 and lived with his parents in Alliance, [...]

À la recherche des maquettes perdu

One of my resolutions on retirement was to finally re-indulge in the long-abandoned pleasure of scale model building. I built my first models when I was confined to hospital for long periods around age 8 to 12. My dad, a former RCAF [...]

Monogram 1/48th FW-190: Almost out-of-the-box

I wanted to do something relaxing, so I grabbed this old Monogram FW-190 from the stash in my garage. It also fits my keep-it-simple modeling philosophy. My plan is to build it mostly out-of-the-box and just concentrate on a decent build [...]

AW Siskin Mk.III 1/72 (Matchbox)

Hello again, I would like to present a few pics of one of my older models – a Siskin from Matchbox. A few details were scratchbuilt and the rigging was made from a black stockings (nylon thread). Kit was painted using GunzeSangyo Super [...]

Torp in the water! Another Monogram Classic done

well here she is my 1974 issue Monogram TBD-1. I painter her as a bomber from the USS Yorktown at the Battle of the Coral Sea. Scratchbuilt seats and interior details, Eduard seat belts. One of the interesting things I discovered while [...]

Little Nellie

Here is a very old AIRFIX kit I found in the attic. Not sure when it was made? It is rather battered.Sale 1:24. My partner's father in law was Wing Commander Ken Wallis who built and flew this auto gyro in the James Bond film.He also [...]

Otaki 1/48 Focke-Wulf FW-190

An old kit from the 1970s, but went together very well. No putty or filler needed anywhere. Painted with Gunze-Sangyo acrylics, and markings are from an old Cutting Edge sheet. The only modifications done were drilling out the gun barrels.

Pegasus solid vinyl 1953 ‘War of the Worlds’ Martian

This is the Martian from George Pal's 1953 movie 'War of the Worlds'. This kit was a fairly simple build. I base coated it in Tamiya spray bomb fine grey primer. After that, the hardest part was hand painting all of the veins and [...]
